Emperor and Sissi together with Music of Lehar
You find lots of history of the Empire period, as well as history about the salt which was mined here dating back to before Christianity and its importance to thEmperor many artists and musicians stayed and worked here as well. The painter Klimt together with composer Franz Lehar have been very productive in this beautiful area and the exhibits share it with the public. Very nicely done.

Nice, but only if your interested in Bad Ischl.
It is a small museum which has an extra exposition about World War I. Children below 7 are free of charge. For the museum and the extra exposition we paid 21,60 euro. It is nice to see all those things from the past. The World War I exposition ofcourse has as main objective Kaiser Franz Joseph. The museum about Bad Ischl is nice too but I personally would have set up the museum different. It still was interesting though. My children of 4 and 6 were quickly bored, but I expected that so for me that was no problem.

Could be Missed
The small city museum of Bad Ischl is housed in a building on the river that was until recently a private home. The Hapsburgs used to rent the upper floors in the summer. Apparently Franz Joseph proposed to Elizabeth there. Other than these historical facts, the museum is not that interesting. It was something to do in Bad Ischl, but more to kill time than for real information.
