For an hour and 15 euros you can actually drive your own battery-powered boat around the lake. You are taking in views otherwise unavailable. It's BEAUTIFUL and a very special way to see the city.

One of the highlights from a month long trip in Europe
I don't know how with all my research prior to coming to Hallstatt, I didn't even know this existed, but I'm so thankful we discovered it. We decided to do the 1-hour rental instead of 30 minutes, as we didn't want to feel rushed and I'm so glad we did. My wife, daughter and I took turns driving and taking photos and it was just so lovely to actually be out ON the lake in our own little electric boat. At the end of our month-long trip to some very amazing places with wonderful experiences, this boat rental in Hallstatt came up on all of our lists as one of our favorite experiences. I can't recommend this enough to anyone going to Hallstatt!

Great way to see Hallstatt!
For a 30 or 60 minute boat rental (paddle, row, or small electric motor boat) you can see Hallstatt from the lake and get some incredible views. The lake is peaceful - no wakes. The value is excellent, around 10-15 euros for a half hour rental. Slightly more for a full rental. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. Don't forget sunscreen!
