3.5 (31 reviews) Spent < 1 hour Ranking #11 in Bad Ischl Speciality Museums

Nice but pricey - no info in English

Saw the signs for the museum along the way to Hallstatt and decided to stop by, Lots of cars, planes and vehicles with historical signification that unfortunately we could not understand because there's not even one word in English there and we don't speak German. The lady at the desk could barely speak English and the price of 10 Euros per person seem really high but might worth if for German speakers and people that love vehicles :) We spent there about 40 min. If they read this - wouldn't hurt to put a line in English at least on the exhibition highlights.

    needs some investment
i have been to this museum several times, and even though it is interesting, it just lacks something. it is quite a long way from bad ischl but there is a small bus that can drop you off about 10 mins walk from the museum. a large number of cars and commercial vehicles as well as motorbikes. but a lot look as if they need a bit of tlc. outside there are eastern bloc jet fighters and a helicopter, and looking at these makes you admire the pilots who dared to fly them. it would be nice if they received some backing from the likes of red bull, as this would help them expand and tidy up the place

From the reviews I read before, I knew it would go one of two ways.
Just about OK for a forty minute diversion. Some interesting looking things in here. Great to walk around if you already know beforehand about each of the exhibits in detail. If you can't read German then make sure you have Google Translate. Great place to visit if you like MiGs that look like they were bought in the MiG equivalent of a car boot sale. There were many, many tanks but only one that wasn't a model. Can't really recommend it much beyond that. On the plus side, the café next door is suitably and wallet-lighteningly expensive.
