A tribute to the nature
Egelsee is a small lake up in the mountains, on the west side of Attersee. The easiest access is from Stockwinkl and the starting point is Stadler Gasthof am See. Alternatively, it can be reached from Unterrach or coming from Nussdorf am Attersee on Westwanderweg. Doesn't matter the starting point, it is a pleasant trip through forrests that covers the mountains that line the West Bank of Attersee. Egelsee itself is located in a quiet location, it is rich in vegetation and if you like small animals and birds, it is an ideal place. The access is not difficult, excepting maybe the ascending path if you choose Stockwinkl as starting point. Very nice place to spent a half a day. Swimming and fishing are not allowed. Take water and food with you. If you come from Kronberg - Wienerroith - Nussdorf you could continue from Egelsee to Stockwinkl or Unterach and get the regular boat cruise. Altogether, it is a nice and relaxing trip (children are welcome!) and remains enough time to take a refreshing bath in the green-blueish water of Attersee.
