Na Kha Market, Udon Thani Province, Thailand
4.5 (6 reviews) Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #19 in Udon Thani Flea & Street Markets
Part 2 of my 8 hour Thailand Adventure
I had asked the guy at reception at the Nong Khai Resort for a taxi to take me to Udon Thani for a few hours to see a market, the sites, do some shopping etc. Easy, right. Well, no! The reception guy explained to the taxi driver and off we went. An hour later, I was dropped of here in a busy, hectic, noisy market. In Udon Thani, right? - no, no, no - it was 15 k north of Udon Thani, I later found out. The driver said this is the place, insisted, took my money and left.. So I spent a couple of hours roaming around, saw many stalls selling all forms of merchandise and generally passed my time. This day I did 41,119 steps. The hardest part was finding a person to take me back to the Thai/Laos border to meet the deadline set by the Thai border guards. After much searching, countless hand gestures and essentially a "bribe" I found myself back at Nong Khai and the border. The Thai guys were fine but Laotian border guards insisted I needed a second visa to get into Laos as the one I had was a single use visa. I got back into Laos safely, signifying the end of my adventure....
