My visit to the Udon Thani City Museum

The Udon Thani Museum is an interesting look at the history both the local area and this northern region of Thailand. Not all of the narratives are translated into English which limits their usefulness to those of us who do not read Thai, but in many cases, the pictures give context. If one is in Udon Thani for more than a few days, take a bit of time out of your schedule and visit this attraction.

    Well worth a visit
This little museum was lovely, but still more to do for non Thai speakers. While the placards are (mostly) in English and Thai, The audio is just in Thai. But well worth a visit to put Udon Thani in context.

Newly renovated but lack of information
    - It was an old colonials style building and it was used as a school and some office before and it took about 3 years to renovate (quite a long time compare it what we get from it) - I went there in Jan 2018 and there was no entrance fee but you can donate in a box, they might sell the entrance ticket in the future? not sure - the exhibition was kind of interactive to play with but not as good as those ones in BKK - close to Nong Prajack park - although the exhibition was quite little interesting but it's lack of information of history. The VDO only explain in Thai (no English, not even subtitle) - There are some English explanation but not in every details - In many exhibition room, there are old photos, people from the past but that was it, no explanation who they were or what was the photo about. - 1 hr. or less would be enough to look around - what interspersing about the building was the wall structure, there is one room you can see the wall that they use bridge to build along with wood (and there was no explanations and details about it) - toilets are clean (I went there when it was newly opened) - there is an elevator for handicap but the pathway and walk way has a lot of step which is not quite suitable for wheelchair, they said they will fix this in the future though Well, glad to see that this city has got museum of its own but they really need to work on the information and details of history and plus... the English version too
