As a recommendation, We Contact Tiron who owner Mansala Safari House - Udawalawe to book a morning safari and he insisted we do the afternoon safari because we would be guaranteed to see more animals, we appreciated his honesty and that he was not just after the money. Tiron introduce Sheran who going our Driver & guide one of best of his team, He is well-informed and keen on showing us everything and explaining details about every animal and bird We also see Something that other tours don't have. We took different routes around the park and went off the beaten track enabling us to see more than others. We were the last car in the park on the evening trip as we’d found ourselves in the middle of an elephant herd - amazing! If you are looking for close up, breathtaking encounters with elephants and the opportunity to see countless native birds and other animals then book now for a safari with Lahiru. I found him here after reading previous reviews and from our first contact he made this trip the best it could possibly be with his attention to detail, care and consideration. I can’t imagine a more knowledgeable and friendly companion for this trip of a lifetime. He used his expertise to ensure we saw as many animals as possible, as close up as possible. On many occasions we found ourselves as the only jeep and literally feet away from male and female elephants, often with their young. We finished the day at dusk by the lake and watched a large crocodile slide into the water. This trip will leave you breathless and speaking for myself, somewhat emotional. It’s a “must do” made simply magical by the care of Lahiru as such an expert guide. Any bird watchers will be especially wowed by Lahiru’s vast knowledge and passion and are sure to have an amazing time. We were staying in Hiriketiya, around an hour and a half’s drive away and Lahiru even sorted out the transport from our rooms to the safari park and back again with a super driver who was determined to make the drive all part of the day out, stopping to show us local sights or for us to take photographs, even stopping to get us food on the trip home.
