    Inspiring
A small house with original furniture, china, clothes and small museum is easy to view. A docent gives a small tour and points out specific special items, then we were left on our own to explore. The actual water pump and the cottage where Helen makes the breakthrough to understanding are there! Also, there are productions of "The Miracle Worker" are given on the grounds' outdoor theater, but only in season. We weren't there for the play, but loved walking the grounds, studying the Lion's Club "garden" ... and the trees!!! they're magnificent century-old magnolias and oaks.

    Small Town, Big Name
Helen Keller's name is all around this town...library, hospital, etc. The birthplace home was a nice stop to tour. We were given a brief story about Helen Keller and then left to tour on our own. If you do not know much about her, read before you go so you can appreciate this more. The home is small, masks are required inside, and you are given a brochure to read on your self-guided tour. We probably spent about 45 minutes there. She has quite a story and accomplished great things. The grounds include the house, the annex to the house, the ice house, the building with the kitchen and the cook's quarters, a few small gardens, a Lions Club display about her with a video, and the statue of Annie Sullivan with Helen Keller at the water pump. We were traveling nearby and made the stop. The cost was about $8 each, less for seniors or kids. You can walk the grounds for no charge, but to tour inside, you need to pay. They also sell some nice postcards. This is not a large place or large parking lot, but it is a nice stop if in the area.
