Aside from being a much used and active facility, HKPL is the oldest chartered library in Alabama in continuous service, founded in part by Helen Keller's mother. One room is dedicated to the Late Senator Howell Heflin an includes historic documents related to his service. Another room is dedicated to local history. A beautiful large portrait of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan by award winning portrait artist Martha Carpenter may be viewed in a large meeting room in the library. This is worth a visit while in Tuscumbia. See more..

During the Helen Keller Festival’s Car Show (A MUST SEE - SO MANY UNIQUE CARS ON DISPLAY!) we ducked in the courthouse to use the public restrooms. This courthouse is so pretty, clean and it is well preserved. You can tell the citizens lovingly care for it. See more..
