    Beautiful and weird
Such a special, strange and beautiful place. We had a local guide, Cyril Billy, who was great at telling about the lake and the work on the factory. Other people go swimming in the little pools of water within the asphalt because there are different minerals but we didn’t try that.

    8th Wonder of the World
Looking at Pitch Lake it appears to be a boring ordinary lake but one needs to experience it. Walking on, handling the tar and sampling the water is a worthwhile adventure, especially if you pay a certified tour guide. Our guide, Cyril/Cecil? was not only informative about Pitch Lake's industry and history, he had a good sense of humor. We stayed about 90 minutes that included visiting the small museum. It is recommended to wear old sandals/water shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen. Also, one can get stuck or actually sink into the tar so walking on the lake with a certified guide is highly recommended to avoid accidents.
