Exquisite park with knowledgeable guides

I have returned for a second visit as my 1st last year was so wonderful. The guides are so knowledgeable and are able to show you things like minute silver frogs that we would have walked straight passed. The park should be commended for their education projects aimed at local school children and communities as this is such important work. The sanctuary is beautiful and very well maintained even after heavy rains. I suggest that you don’t try drive by yourself unless you have a 4x4 or high vehicle as the roads are bad, especially during rainy season. They have a number of different lemur species, along with frogs, snakes and the exquisite giant chameleons. While the park is relatively small, it is very well worth going for the beautiful tropical scenery, very knowledgeable guides and animals.

A beautiful green rainforest with lemurs!
If you are in Tamatave this place is worth going although the road is bad but very green and beautiful, you get to see local communities/villages. Our guide was Denis and he was very informed of lemurs and different plants. The fee is 20,000 ariary per foreign adult and 10,000 is for the tour guide excluding tip. Most of lemurs are in the cage but we saw some lemurs out in the trees free, it was cool! We didn't see aye-aye because he was sleeping and wakes up only at 6 when it is time for supper. There is a small store with souvenirs and t shirts. We enjoyed our visit very much and definitely recommend, it is only about 10 km from Tamatave town centre.

Great place to spend a couple of hours!
Actually on our way north we came across this place that was: 1. Not crowded by tourists (like us) 2. We had a great English speaking guide for some of the stay that pointed out the most interesting plants and animals and the left us alone strolling around! Take a taxi from Tamatave and just walk around (the taxi will wait for no cost at all as always in Madagascar).
