An excellent guide!!

As a solo female traveler, I pick my guides very carefully, and I was not disappointed with my choice for a 2 day stay, including overnight camping on Nose Mangabe for a very reasonable rate (approximately £125 total). Jean Emile speaks excellent English, is so informative about the plants, animals, insects etc. He was great company and extremely patient with this old girl. He amazed me with his knowledge and especially his ability to find the wildlife on our hikes on the island. He organised everything I needed for the park, from permits, transfer boat, a tent with comfortable mattress & sleeping bag, and he is even a great cook so I enjoyed all the meals he provided. I am very happy to recommend Jean Emile to anyone who wants to see this amazing part of Madagascar, for short trips or long hikes through Masoala National Park.

Fantastic Parc Masoala expedition led by Jean Emile
It was the trip of a lifetime. Our party of four (plus guide crew) took a fancy speedboat from Maroantsetra to Nosy Manga Be for our first day of the trip. While underway we were served a fantastic breakfast and coffee to boot ! Once we arrived on the island the trip only got better from there. Fantastic accommodations, numerous hiking trails and gorgeous views. The wildlife game is strong on this island with large skinks, colorful frogs, the worlds smallest chameleon and of course lemurs. If anyone is interested in snorkeling there is a gorgeous reef just off the camping area, highly recommend. After a night in Nosy Manga Be we traveled by speedboat to Cape Masoala and were greeted warmly by the locals. The next day we set out on an unforgettable three day hike through the rainforest. Each day you are served a hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner to keep you going. The hike is leisurely and allows for many wildlife viewing opportunities, namely chameleons, snakes and a multitude of exotic birbs. The final days of our expedition were spend lounging at a luxurious bungalow by the sea in the town of Tampolo. They have cold gold Blanche at one of the emissaries there and I cannot recommend it enough. Thank you so much Jean it was a terrific time !

Organize your trip with Jean Emile
I am a Swiss tour leader and private group travel organizer and working together with Jean Emile as guide for the Masoala part of my trips since I first met him 15 years ago. I am very happy to see his knowledge, his language skills (german, french, english) and his ability to organize logistic matters by himself highly improving over the past years. I can recommend Jean Emile with my highest trust, and I will be happy to work with him in the upcoming years. Check out his website for an idea of what he can do for you!
