Cruise on the Pangalanes Canal- a must when visiting Toamasina
We had a wonderful time with Fanilo Tours, cruising the Canal des Pangalanes During the 4 hour trip, we stopped at 2 traditional Betsimisarika villages, where we had the opportunity to explore on foot and learn a little of the colorful history of the area, including the construction of this tranquil 645 km waterway. Our English and French speaking Malagasy guide was knowledgeable and personable, happy to respond to my barrage of questions about the local customs, as well as the exotic tropical vegetation lining the banks of the canal. A highlight of the trip was a 10 minute stroll from the canal across the peninsula to a gorgeous white sand beach on the Indian Ocean. Thank you Fanilo Tours for a fun experience!
