Lake Assale is the most interesting and unusual thing in Northern Ethiopia! If you want to have good memories about this place, do not go with ETT, they do not care about the tourists. Any other travel agency will be better: World sun, Lucy, Magma Flow. Enjoy the beauty with those, who care about the people and not about the money!

    Peaceful, magic place at sunset
    We spent the end of the afternoon in Lake Assal, and the atmosphere was totally magic, out of time. The trip to the Danakil depression is quite expensive, however it's uniqueness makes it definitely worth it. I can recommend the Mek'ele-based agency Lucy Ethiopia. We did the 2-day trip to the Danakil Depression incl. Lake Assal and Dalol (I had read some deceiving reviews about Erta Ale, but check again as the volcano's activity may change again) and it contained various amazing highlights.

    Beautiful!
    We visited this as part of our Danikil Tour. It's beautiful and striking, and otherworldly. I recommend going.
