Great fun for the Kids

Even though this old Russian hangar ship is displayed with airplanes that ever was able to start or land on such a ship.... Even though there is a very very fake control room in the ship center... and even though they looped and dobbed the movie Red October to make it look like operations on the hangar.... dispite all these flaws (and more).... the ship was great fun for my three boys! They loved the fact that they could touch and turn every single nob on display, that they could sit in the captain chair, that they were allowed to play warship with out someone telling them that they needed to keep behind the yellow line :-) Excellent fun!

A must for aviation / naval history buffs
As an aerospace history fan (and former museum tour guide), I rarely miss the chance to visit an aviation museum. To be clear, this visit is light on the history and not really a museum. And, I would agree with the other reviews that describe this attraction as all a bit odd. Putting that aside, the visit to the ship itself is a marvel—particularly if you know your history and / or have had the chance to visit other carriers / ships like Yorktown, Intrepid, Hornet, Missouri, or HMS Belfast. At its core, the ship is a carrier / missile cruiser hybrid, which by itself makes this an unusual ship. Plus, the Russian approach to ship building is revealing in its rugged design and robust construction. Where else can you see a flight deck lined with thousands of large rivets (don’t stub your toes). And the armament is impressive (if daunting). I particularly enjoyed the visit to the flight operations area on the aft side of the island—which includes an observation / command area for the ship’s “air boss”. Be sure to read up on Kiev-class aircraft carriers before your visit...

    Awesome experience!
I was in Tianjin for a day and decided this was the attraction I wanted to see the most. When I arrived in Tianjin, I took bus 462, thinking it would take me to the park in a while. 1 hour later, I was still on the bus! The whole journey by bus 462 took about 1 h 15 min. The worst part was, after I alighted, the park was nowhere in sight! Turned out the park is further in and I had to hire a cab (that does not go by the meter and cost me ¥20) to get into the park. However, once there, it didn't disappoint. It's Russian themed and there was a beautiful display right at the entrance. My only regret was getting there too late. The park closes at 5pm and I got there are 4pm. Those who wish to go should consider the time taken to get there and keep that in mind. I went straight to the Kiev and it was an amazing experience! It is more like an exhibition, but I got to explore 5 decks of the Kiev and there were arsensals, photographs and displays of various items used on board the Kiev. I love the control room a lot! Definitely a different kind of experience! Most attractions were closed by the time I got there so the ¥220 admission was pretty pricey. Nevertheless, if you don't mind the distance, this is probably one of the best experiences in Tianjin in my opinion!
