Great personal model train collection
Amazing personal collection of model trains. Definitely do the scavenger hunts. It helps you see more details. Take the time to learn about the collection from the staff. It made the visit so much more meaningful. We did not do the outdoor train tour as we have a large transportation museum in our home town, so I can’t comment on that portion.

awesome display
It is a small spot but has wonderful display of different types of trains thru time and place, look for trains overhead. Great and friendly staff that are well versed in their trains can tell you anything you wanted to know. Great for kids to visit.

Visit Dallas, West Texas, New Mexico and Colorado - all from the perspective of a train
Obtaining this large model railroad layout was quite a coup for Frisco. The layout was lovingly assembled and reflects the character of all of the locations mentioned in the title. If you go, be sure to pick up a scavenger hunt to help sharpen your vision: kids will love hunting the small details like the armadillo and the watermelons. TrainTopia is located in the Frisco Discovery Center which also houses the National Videogame Museum and a Science Discovery Center. It's part of the Museum of the American Railroad which also has a sizeable collection of rolling stock and they offer a walking tour on select dates.
