Rattlers & Reptiles, Texas, United States

3.5 (53 reviews) Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM Spent Ranking #10 in Fort Davis Zoos

New and Improved.

Two years ago we stopped here. Motorcycle parts littered the grounds. I went inside to check it out and decided to NOT bring me kids inside due to the conditions. Fast forward to 2020. As we drove past I noticed the grounds had been cleaned so I stopped for a look. Inside was completely cleaned out. The displays were nice and informative. Snakes well cared for. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. I have never seen a more diverse collection of rattlesnakes. So much variety and so beautiful. If you look at all the poor reviews you will see they are from “before.” For the small town of Fort Davis this is definitively worth the admission.

    Spooky. Awesome. Worth the drive.
Very knowledgeable staff gave us so much of their time to learn all about Rattlers, other snakes, tarantulas, and gila monsters. Here's the only drawback. Our daughter so wanted to take one home. Nope.nope.nope. she did get to hold one, tho.

Small building with some interesting occupants
The person who sits at the entrance knows a lot about snakes so do ask her questions. There is a large variety of rattlers plus other things like spiders, gila monsters, etc. $5 admission seems like a lot given what you see, but it was interesting. I don't suppose you really can get anything these days for less than $5! Would not go out of my way to see this but we were right down the street at a hotel, so we stopped in.
