Way cooler than we thought!
Far more graves than we expected. Many graves are simply marked with an iron cross. Interesting history related to the area and the people who lived here. Worth a visit!

Finally You Can Visit this Cemetery
In previous years we have looked for this cemetery, but could not figure out how to access it without trespassing. Now there is a small parking lot right off the Alpine highway, with a big sign and a marked path back up the hill to the cemetery. If you do nothing else, stop and read about Chihuahuita, the Hispanic neighborhood that is part of Fort Davis' history. Don't wear sandals if you walk up to the cemetery as there are some thorny plants underfoot.

Step back in time
To understand the old West it is good to understand the people that created it. This is the place to go. the average age of death was 43 years of age.
