Fun and informative.
Great way to learn the history of Jefferson. 4 floors of history. This was the old courthouse and you can still see the signs above the doors telling you which was the jury room, court room, etc. The first floor was also the old post office. The docent was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the town. All the exhibits were donated, so you get a bit of everything, even portraits donated from NY and Calif. The best part is admission gets you into the miniature railroad inn back. The mini railroad search and fid was fun.

So much history!
Such a beautiful old building with lots of historic artifacts. 4 floors of exhibits!!! We spent about 2 hours combing through all of them and I'm sure there are some things we missed. Our favorite part was the train exhibit! It's housed in a separate building and is HUGE. If you love model trains then you'll definitely not want to miss this section. There is an elevator for those who can't do stairs with the exception of the basement...you must take the stairs to get there. They are raising money to do a total renovation of the museum and I'd love to come back when they get it done. I'm sure it will be even better than it is now.

History Abounds!
You will find 3 stories and a basement full of antiquities from Jefferson’s past located in was once the courthouse/post office. If you looked beyond the artifacts the building, you could see examples of it’s former self..the Jury Room, Marshal’s office, etc. Located behind the museum is a model train exhibit. Built by an individual & now in their care, you are tasked with finding different scenarios in the landscape. It’s worth checking out!
