Fun atmosphere and good drinks!

We were greeted immediately. The guy doing our wine tasting was very knowledgeable and lots of fun. There was a live band playing popular songs and people were having a good time. There was a BBQ food truck and it was very good! The peach wine is amazing and I wish I would have bought more.

    Fun place!
My husband and I stopped at the Fat Ass Winery on a whim, not really knowing what to expect. We ended up having the best time! It's a very low key, casual place. For $8.00 you can choose between one glass of wine or a tasting of assorted wines w/souvenir glass. We enjoyed a glass of sweet red and it was quite good. There's also a selection of souvenir T-shirts and other small items for sale in the bar area. Outside, there's a courtyard with a covered area where a live band plays. The day we were there, a classic rock & blues band was playing for tips and they sounded great! There were even a few people who got up to dance! ? There was a food truck on premises with the humorous name "Trailer Trash Cuisine" if you got hungry. ? It was a very fun, party atmosphere unlike other wineries we've visited. If you're looking for a fun, relaxing place to hang out with friends, listen to live music and sip wine, I highly recommend Fat Ass Winery!

Cute name and concept - but average over priced wines
We stopped here along the way to our lodging accommodations in Fredericksburg since we had time to kill before we could check in. To be honest, this place is a gimmicky tourist stop in wine country. Hey, they snagged us - we stopped because of the name. Staff was friendly enough, tastings are cheap ($10pp), and they have nice outdoor area. Their wine, however, is very sweet and mediocre at best, even their Cab is on the sweet side. Overall, we did have fun and if you have the time to kill, stop by even if it's just for the free Fat Ass wine glass that comes with your tasting fee. But this is cheap grocery store wine that they should be selling at $10 a bottle, not the $28+ they're asking.
