Best Church ever! God's word being taught verse by verse.

Calvary Chapel Plano has been my family's home church for over 14 years. We love it so much that we drive 45+ minutes each way every Sunday. There is no better church around that will take the word of God and teach it verse by verse. And then go into detail and depth of the verse being taught to give us better understanding. There are also a lot of ministries that you can get involved in, like the men's ministry, women's ministry, couple's ministry, youth ministry, book clubs, movie nights, hallelujah night, and so much more! There is truly something for everyone! And the people there, from the moment we walked through the front door, were so welcoming and poured out so much love on us that we instantly felt right at home.

I have been a member of this church for 22 years. I've never found better.
If you have been to a Calvary Chapel based on Chuck Smith's teachings, you will find the church familiar. Pastor Rick Coburn goes through the Bible verse by verse from cover to cover so you can hear the entire Christian message. I went to this church the day after I got saved. I have always embraced this church, Pastor Rick and my fellow church family. You really DO NOT feel like Calvary Chapel has their hand in your back pocket. I have never heard Rick ask for money. He has said that God likes a cheerful giver and if you don't feel like giving, don't. I do not remember any drives for building or works. There is information on groups in need out in the foyer. Not being pushed but just sitting there. The dress is all over the place. People come in Hawaiian shirts and shorts and suits & ties. If you are hurting, come here. It might help.

Most Calvary Chapels are Wonderful, Not This One. Hopefully One Day.
Not a spiritually healthy place to attend or serve. Please be warned. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a small church that needs people's help and really wants to grow big. Plano has churches nearby that are very sound, pleasant, nurturing, healthy, safe and biblical. But there are reasons why some churches stay small with an abnormal turn-over rate long-term..and those specific reasons are hard to hide long. A church needs a leader, elders and a board who wisely guards a biblical mission and local church "vision" so to speak ..encouraging equippers that empower (if you will) the believers to accomplish it and then pretty much gets out of their way (I don't mean with zero accountability). Think about it. Attendees in Texas don't constantly need a church governance team that micromanages. My wife and three boys went to and served here in Plano for about four years when the current Senior Pastor also worked here full time (we know Eric well) and we sadly cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. We have attended and ministered at other Calvary Chapels across the nation including the first one in Costa Mesa California and several of these churches (even among the small Calvary Chapel congregations like this one..) were and still are wonderful places with excellent leadership and thorough teaching (Everything rises and falls on leadership). Again, most Calvary Chapels are still effective today, very warm-hearted places that consistently glorify the Lord and protect people. We unfortunately did not experience that same quality of ministry here, and it's not just due to that lack of proper training at the Plano location. We wish them well wanting to see a change for the people's sake. We have met some kind people and heard some very good things verbally passed along from the late Chuck Smith Sr. (the church movement's founder) at this Calvary Chapel from time to time, like people typically do at other ones, but an occasional echo from yesteryear (from the right ideas backed by the Book) minus real loyalty.. simply isn't enough to meet the needs of hungry Dallas area families. @kurtwVs
