Outdoor shopping & Restaurants

This is an outdoor shopping mall with a large variety of shops from small boutique to big box stores such as James Avery to Bed, Bath & Beyond and Container Store. Those shops are coupled with and equal number of restaurants from fast food such as McAlister's and Pot Belly soups and sandwiches to P.F. Chang's, Chuy's, Gloria's and the like. Our personal favorite is BJ's Brewhouse that has an incredibly varied and delicious menu items.

Decent Option for Shopping, Dining, and a Movie
Shopping and dining options are not too difficult to find when you’re in a large city or a suburb of a large city. On a recent excursion to the Dallas suburb of Arlington, I found myself staying at a hotel that just happened to have a large, outdoor shopping mall next door. That shopping center is Arlington Highlands. Arlington Highlands is an outdoor shopping mall and that means, of course, that all of the walking is done outside, as opposed to the interior confines of an indoor shopping mall. This can be both good and bad, depending on the weather. There are a good deal of stores, restaurants, and a movie theater here, just be prepared to walk, because the places are not necessarily all that close together. The shops at Arlington Highlands are moderate to upscale. You aren’t going to find any discount stores here, nor will you find any fast food restaurants. This is not a place to visit if you’re looking for bargain prices, as most of the stores lean in a more expensive direction. My least favorite aspect of Arlington Highlands is the parking. I was nearby so for my first visit here, I walked with my kids from our hotel. It was then that we discovered that there was a little more walking involved than we preferred, so when we came back later that day, we drove instead. The entrances and exits to the area are limited, also. I think it would be a good idea to build a parking garage, since it would help to alleviate parking issues. Outdoor shopping malls have their merits and Arlington Highlands is a respectable place for strolling around and looking for things to buy and places to eat. The location next to Interstate 20 is convenient and there are some decent natural spaces and fountains, but the parking and walking make it only an average shopping center overall.
