History & Fun for everyone
Sharon at the entrance was most helpful providing guidance for our visit. There are vast, intricate, detailed model trains to complement the extensive display both indoors and outdoors of historic windmills in two huge buildings. There is also an amazingly detailed, colorful, and beautiful mural by LaGina Fairbetter that stretches 110’ tall and 172’ long depicting West Texas water-pumps to wind-power generators. A “G” scale train passes scenes from the founding of Lubbock showing the relationship between water windmills and trains. Currently entry is a totally worth the $5 per person; normally it is $7,50 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5.00 for children.

American Windmill Museum and more
Five of us (parents and 3 early 20s "kids") spent about 90 minutes looking at the windmills, mill stones, dollhouses, and trains for $20. There was a video about the new windmills, how they are assembled, etc., which was interesting since we're seeing them pop up more and more to produce electricity. Another video explained how the mill stones are carved and used. The train wasn't running since it had an "accident" but we enjoyed looking at the town built up around the tracks. If you're looking for something to do which doesn't cost a whole lot, it's definitely worth seeing. We all enjoyed it.
