Cumberland Trail, Prentice Cooper State Forest, Tennessee, United States

Stunning views!
The Cumberland Trail has many great trails and overlooks. The total length is about 32 miles plus loops. Two very easy overlooks to access for non-hikers are Signal Point (right in the town of Signal Mountain just a few steps from the parking lot) and Snoopers Rock (also a short distance from parking). We did the hike from Snoopers Rock to Indian Rock House, just about three miles. It was a great hike though a bit tiring for our less experienced hikers, but if my 70 year old mom can make it anyone can! And the views were so worth it.

Snoopers rock
Just an amazing view of the gorge. Best view I have seen in this area and is not well known to most visitors. Long gravel road to get there but well worth it.

Mullens Cove Loop Trail
I hiked the portion of the trail that forms a 10-mile loop known as the Mullens Cove Loop Trail. This trail includes the Snooper's Rock Trail, and for a portion of the trail it overlaps the Pot Point Loop Trail. During the trail are three breathtaking lookouts, one of them being Snooper's Rock. The trail includes variety in scenery, terrain, and foliage, and spring is the best time to hike it. I hiked it in August, which means that the many streams and rivers were completely dry. On the day I hiked, I went counterclockwise, but every hiker I saw was going clockwise. Hiking clockwise means that the last two miles include a bit of incline, but I would still hike that direction, because the visual rewards (the lookouts) are basically in the second half of the hike.
