5.0 (379 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Tellico Plains Waterfalls

Perfect Sunday Afternoon

My Wife, our daughter and Mother ventured out for an afternoon outing, we decided on this area and wasn’t disappointed! The Cherokee National Forest is great and the river and falls are beautiful. We had rains the last several days and the falls were beautiful and flowing. The area and charm was relaxing and casual. Our day was a fun and amazing day for the books, can’t go wrong in this area for many outdoor activities~ Highly Recommend visiting.... Hiking, Fishing and Picnics.

A Must See in the Tellico Area
Bald River Falls is on a Forest Road off of the Cherohala Skyway. It is a few miles drive from the Skyway to the Falls, but it is right on the road, so if you can't walk very far, this is the perfect sightseeing adventure for you, as you don't even have to get out of your vehicle to see the amazing Falls. There is a parking area just past the Falls if you want to venture out onto the bridge to see it and a hiking trail to the top of the Falls. The hike to the top can be a bit strenuous, so I wouldn't advise it if you have health concerns. A word of caution: Some people have died trying to climb down into the gorge and up onto the Falls, so please don't attempt this and please keep an extra close eye on your children. All in all, a beautiful sight to behold, just use common sense. It is a totally different experience after a heavy rain than when it has been dry for a while, so each visit can have its own feel. For us, no two experiences are alike. Another reason we love this spot!

    Such a pretty place
We stopped by to enjoy Bald River Falls after camping at Indian Boundary. The drive to the falls was lovely. The falls themselves were breathtaking! There was adequate parking and it was nice to be able to see the falls from the road. There is a hiking trail to the top of the falls that we will have to come back and check out another time. You can also climb down to the bottom of the falls, which we did not attempt this visit but will the next time we're there.
