Great for relaxation and outdoor pursuits

We visited this area and particularly Lake Plateliai during a coach tour from Klaipeda, whilst on a cruise. The whole location is beautifully rural and brilliant for nature and outdoor pursuits. The very large lake is probably the centre piece and provides opportunities for leisure, relaxation and again nature. Well worth a visit to experience the great outdoors. When we were there it was very peaceful and uncrowded.

    Beautiful part of Lithuania
    The park and lake is beautiful. It was a great chance to escape to nature. We were there in late September after the holidays had finished so everything was very quiet. Boats were no longer available to rent but the bike shop opened for us to rent bikes. The ride around the lake was well worth it. Dining options are limited. There was one restaurant on the opposite side of the lake from Plateliai in a hotel and then we drove to Plonge for dinner the second night.

    Place for serenity seekers
    We stopped at the tourist office of the park on the wintry cold early spring day on a way to Cold War museum. The park office is very modern, lots of interactive exhibits, wild animals/birds, plants. The best part of the office is it's staff- very friendly and professional. Plateliai lake is for the peace, serenity and relaxation seekers, lots of hiking/trailing/biking options, bike lanes are in a very good shape. Don't forget to visit the Shrovetide masks museum and Cold War museum.
