Home To Innis Murals

Located just off the bayou, this wee church is home to George Innis junior murals painted in the late 19th c featuring local landscapes. Think Turner. Had seen them before in situ during a service but this visit they are absent being refurbished following a 5 year restoration of the church necesitated by sink hole damage. The church is a christian center of the community. Volunteers are busy week days fabricating quits and children's dresses and tote bags etc or persons in need, The grounds feature a memory garden of fragrant trees and shrubs.

    Artists and Environmentalists
Tarpon Springs is one of the oldest of the arts colonies in Florida. The Unitarian Universalist church has a nice collection of landscape paintings from the early 1900s. Artist George Inness, Jr., has recently been rediscovered. In 2019, he was accepted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame. According to legend, the paintings are protected by a ghost. The Unitarian Universalists are active in environmental protection and in preserving historic buildings.
