The American Legation in Tangier is the only US Historic Monument located outside American soil. It hosts the Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies (TALIM). TALIM includes, among others, a private museum, a research library accessible by appointment only, and a community Arabic Literacy Program. Admission fee is: * MAD 20 per person for Moroccan citizens and foreigners resident in Morocco, * MAD 50 for non-resident foreigners. * Free admission for Children under 12. * Guided tours available for MAD 100 per person. Opening hours are: * Monday - Friday: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm * Saturday: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.

America's Oldest Diplomatic Post
Once the US consulate building and the oldest American diplomatic post in the world. Morocco was the first country to recognize the newly independent USA and established its legation here in Tangier in 1821. The museum inside traces the history of the relationship between the US and Morocco, and the exhibits inside include George Washington's famous letter to Moulay Abdullah. This is a lovely old building in great shape and nicely furnished in period furniture and much history on display here of America's longest formal diplomatic relationship.

Great
As a non-American it exceeded my expectations; quite a strange thing to find, something that pre-dates embassies...The building is glorious, there are temporal expositions and the furniture and overall looks make you travel in time. I have never read anything from Bowles, but probably a must if you are a fan
