Pykara Lake-Ooty

Pykara Lake and waterfalls are located on BLORE-OOTY road itself, one hour drive. So you can visit this lake on your way back from ooty, instead of a separate trip. To avoid mad rush on weekends be at the lake at 9 30 am. You will get tickets immediately for Motor boat, speed boat or whatever you want. Prices are reasonable and you get both motor and speed boats here , whereas if you want pedal boat you have to go to Ooty lake only. Well maintained lake, picturesq nature and early morning pleasant sun are enjoyable. Weekdays are less crowded You will need min 1 hour for this place. If you r in a hurry you can skip waterfalls

Loved it
We were told this lake is much better than the Ooty lake. We were not disappointed. It is a dam reservoir surrounded by trees/forests. The last 2 km odd road to the lake from the highway is in very bad condition and full of pot holes. It is about 45 minutes drive from Ooty ( highway route to Mysore). The day we went, it was raining. Not too heavy. Loved the view. Not too crowded because of the rain. Open fast motor boats available ( about 10 minutes ride ) and also covered boats for a group. We were able to share a boat with another couple and so equally paid Rs 500. Must visit the place. Could not explore more around because of the rain.

Nice if not very crowded
Beautiful and pristine lake. It does get quite crowded time-to-time. The boat rides are worth it. The canteen at the place can be visited for a quick snack. People here seem to insist on cash only for some weird reason!
