4.5Dhyanalinga Temple(927 reviews) - Deep massage of tranquility Friday: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Religious Sites
The Dhyanalinga is set amidst the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains, the first of its kind to be completed in over 2000 years. This powerful meditative space does not ascribe to any particular faith or belief system nor does it require any ritual, prayer, or worship. In June 1999, Dhyanalinga was consecrated by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, a realized master, mystic and yogi, after three years of intense process of prana prathista (process of energizing an object using one's own life energies). Measuring 13' 9", Dhyanalinga is the largest mercury-based live linga in the world. All the aspects of life are enshrined in the form of seven chakras, energized to the very peak and locked to prevent dissipation over time. It is expected that the energies of the Dhyanalinga will not suffer dissipation for at least 5000 years. THEERTAKUNDS The Dhyanalinga features two Theerthakunds, which are subterranean tanks with solidified mercury lingas immersed in water, built as preparatory tools to enhance one's spiritual receptivity before entering the Dhyanalinga. The Theerthakunds, are very powerful by themselves. It straightens out the energy or the pranic imbalances in a person, which leads to physical and mental well-being. Above all, it creates a tremendous receptivity to imbibe the energies of Dhyanalinga. They are open for Gents and Ladies from 7:30AM to 8:00PM NADHA ARADHANA An offering of sound to the Dhyanalinga, Nadha Aradhana is an etheric blend of vocals, singing bowls, drums and various other instruments amplified within the reverberating Dome, transporting one into the timeless space of the Dhyanalinga. The offering takes place twice a day, from 11:50 am to 12:10 pm and from 5:50 pm to 6:10 pm. These times are recognized as special sandhya kalas for meditators. A sandhya kala is a phase when nature undergoes certain transitions and makes a person more receptive to inner possibilities. Go for the view; not the temple if you are not Hindu-looking. The climb up is fairly easy if you take your time. You pass through several temple landings before reaching the top. There is a sad looking temple elephant that people feed food to as they pass. We went on a Monday morning and it was not crowded at all. I imagine that when it’s crowded it can be a very different experience. A must-see while in Trichy.See more..
Access to temple from the roads way down was by entering a controlled entry where we paid 30rupees to allow our car up to the parking closer to the temple ground. As we entered the temple premises there was a volunteer to guide us on which way to proceed. We took time to view all the shrines in the premises and as we reached ip fromt it was time for the mid day pooja. The temple drums and bells started their rhythmic prelude to be accompanied by chants of devotees ptesent at the time. It was an heavenly experience that had to be experienced in person depending on the depth of ones worship.See more..

Dhanushkodi, used to be one of the famous tourist spots with it's beaches, church, temples etc but after the cyclone hit the island in 1964, it completely ruined the island and people were devastated and had to leave. . After the cyclone, few bits and pieces of the church are left out. Few years later, people started visiting the island and some tourists were taking away the bricks from the remains. After so much of struggle from the locals, now the government have put up a banner stating "No one has the rights to break this stones, this is an offence and punishable". . Fifty five years have passed since the cyclone, it is slowly regaining it's popularity and tourists. During the visit one can still feel the history like what happened during the storm.See more..

This place holds special religious significance for Christians in India. St.Thomas was the first Christian Evangelist to have visited a predominantly Hindu India in the first century AD.Thomas being one among the original 12 Apostles of Christ means that this is of special significance for Indian Christians considering the fact that this place holds a direct connection to the person of Christ. Pope John Paul-II came to this place on his Indian visit. But somehow, I found the place not being given its due importance unlike a place like Velankanni, for instance. The surroundings are serene and holds great viewing experience. It is a hilltop destination with a relative calm around. This is a place of Pilgrimage. A general visitor can experience a couple of hours calm & great viewing atop the hill. Plenty of parking available at the base.See more..

4.5Arulmigu Patteeswarar Swamy Temple(330 reviews) - Nice Experience. One of the Oldest Temples in Coimbatore Friday: 4:30 AM - 9:00 PM Religious Sites
One of the famous temples in Coimbatore. Located in a place called Perur with lots of buses plying from Coimbatore Gandhipuram. One can visit with family. Not much eatables available with a few shops selling snacks. No Stay option also. Better stay in Coimbatore and visit. If you are coming by bus, my suggestion is to take local town bus instead of the one going to Isha center as it sometimes doesn't stop due to much crowd giving importance to the newly created adhi yogi. Free Footwear stand is there in the entrance of the temple, but many people just leave it on the road itself.See more..

try to reach as early as possible as Rameshwaram temple closes at 1PM and truly it takes more than 45 min to finish the Holy water bathing. We missed Darshan and we came back at 3:30PM when temple opens. But the best is to see post bathing To start with 1. Sea Dip : around 15 min 2. Walking from Sea shore to 22 Kundas: 10 min 3. Heckling with the touts agreeing or avoiding is meaning less : just pay them 100 Rs per person and hire one.. it shirtens the time for queue 4. every Kunda ensure that the bag etc has been kept away from body so that they do not get wet 5.avoid taking mobile etc or take them in a polythene bage 6. after all Kunda bathing is over there is a separate dress change area 7. Rush to the temple after dress change Happy VisitSee more..

4.5Sri Ramana Ashram(273 reviews) - Beautiful peaceful place Religious Sites
Was happy to be at Ramanasramam after many years of waiting to come. You can feel the peace here. I found especially in the old ashram, Skandashram, on the hill, and meditation hall. It was an opportunity to see and experience something of the life when Sri Ramana was there. Meals were very nice traditional foods that you hear mentioned in the books, like idly, samba, rasam, pickles or chutney, served on banana leaf plates. Followed by a cup of buttermilk. I stayed in the gated units across the road, belonging to the ashram. There was a security guard at front most times and the doors could be secured from the inside. It felt safe there. Please bring sheets and blanket if needed. Early February was still a little cool at night and days were warm. Thanks so much to the kind people who make it possible for us to visit Ramana's ashram.See more..
4.0Vellore Fort(267 reviews) - A Beautiful fort - with multiple sights inside & outside its walls Historic Sites • Religious Sites
Fort is worth seeing due to many sights inside & outside its walls. Easily reachable due to its closeness to CMC Main Hospital & Old Bus Stand. Outside the walls, there is a moat. Vellore fort park is there too. Inside the walls, there is a beautiful and busy temple. When one walks more, one can see an old silent church, a mosque that remains closed, a nice museum to explore and a few banyan trees with very huge trunks and aerial roots. Lots of people can be seen in and around the fort, spending time leisurely. Sitting in the shades of the trees of Vellore Fort Park outside the walls, can be a really nice experience. As such no unclean things there, but even today (Sept 2021) people threw plastic bottles in the moat water. That was a painful sight to bear. Must visit place for anyone.See more..
Temple is very good and it's so big. Temple is surrounded by Big Walls and the architecture of the temple is fantastic. It takes a full day to visit and take darshan of complete temple. It looks like a palace and very peaceful, neat and calm. The most attractive part of this temple is the Golden lizard where it is believed that if we pray or touch the golden lizard our sins are gone and fate is rewritten and another myth is negative energies are removed. You need to pay Rs.2 as an entry fee for a golden lizard, the staircase is kept to touch the lizard. Every day morning all priests, Brahmins of Vishnu Kanchi will be attending all poojas or abhishekam of all deities in the temple on their own attire (dhoti ) and get the prasad. This was my first visit to this beautiful temple. We were blessed with nice weather and good darshan. It was crowded due to Pongal holidays but manageable as it was pretty well organized to handle the crowd. Some information for the visitors, 1. Please do not take the Thoothukudi route. 30+ kms from Thootukudi is a minefield for sedans. The route via Tirunelveli was patchy but better than Thoothukudi. Lots of curves and scenery. 2. Weekends are always crowded so try to go as early as possible 3. You have to remove your shirt and enter the temple 4. No shortage of hotels around the temple and most are in the walkable distance. 5. Like Tirupathi, the darshan is only for a few seconds so please don't take any shortcuts. 6. Have sufficient parking space. Mostly, you can leave the car in the hotel and walk to the temple.See more..
