The Brooklands Museum is a great day out, whether you are interested in cars, motor sports, planes, world war history, buses, there is something for you. Look out for special attractions - we were lucky enough to be able to ride in an MG on a section of the track and do the Concorde Experience (strongly recommend booking the latter in advance). The only downside there is the Sunbeam Cafe, where the 'service' at the till point was sullen and unhelpful. Arrived to find there was nothing from the breakfast menu available 20 minutes after opening - apparently all sold out? - and only two sandwiches on the shelf.. That and the cost of drinks (such as a can of fizzy apple being well over £3), crisps and cakes is extortionate, and can make it a very expensive family day out. Strongly advise considering taking your own snacks. Other than that, a good day at Brooklands, where the volunteers are wonderful, friendly and extremely knowledgable.

An amazing experience- everything was first class - exhibits, displays, information etc. The Concorde was easily worth the extra, especially when the tour guide was a former Concorde steward. She knew it all and expertly put it across to everyone from the children to OAPs. My BIG disappointment was that the BEATRICE SHILLING memorabilia was not available as that was the main purpose of our visit. After several enquiries a very kind receptionist tracked down that it had been archived. I could book am appt. to see it but not today! We had already stayed overnight at the Hilton Cobham to be near to get there early, so currently unsure if viable to do the same again next school holiday. However delighted that Dickon in Reception/shop took the time to find me their final copy of Beatrice Shilling: A girl with grit Tweens &Teens edition which I have, but will have to buy Beatrice’s A Dame with Determination from Amazon as all sold out! An amazing lady who obtained a Gold Star on her Norton, raced cars, modifying them with husband George, but also invented the RAE restrictor for Merlin engines in Spitfires and Hurricanes during WW2. It saved the lives of numerous aircraft staff who flew in these planes. An amazing day out for anyone interested in the history of cars, planes and buses to mention a few. It would have been 5 stars if B’s medals etc. Had been there! Allow all day!
