one of the best beaches on Koh Tao

a pretty beach with good snorkelling and a huge boulder to jump off. The restaurant owners are very nice people and serve excellent food at a very low price. They try hard to keep the inevitable rubbish off the beach.

    Great Place for Snorkeling - Access a Bit Difficult
    We did our own snorkeling excursion at the beach and were glad we did. Once on the beach, you will need to find a shady spot - not too easy - and rent snorkeling equipment from one of the restaurants on the beach. Then you will see so many different varieties of tropical fish. You can even jump off the big boulder in the water if you want...The only difficulty is getting here and leaving as there are no tuk tuks on the island and taxis are VERY expensive.

    Nice beach with rough sand and good snorkelling but choppy in December/January
    Tanote Bay is very quite picturesque bay with some of the best snorkelling on Koh Tao and 2 resident baby sharks. In late December/early January, the sea was quite rough with eastern winds blowing constantly, which negatively effected the visibility/snorkelling/swimming and accessibility by longtail boat. The ocean was washing up a lot of seeweed and rubbish on the rough sand which the staff was fighting with throughout the day.
