FRida & freD - Das Grazer Kindermuseum, Styria, Austria

4.5 (40 reviews) Spent Ranking #33 in Graz Speciality Museums

Great fun for children and adults

The place is easy to find, and the museum is more like interactive workshop. The place is divided into two sections: for younger children (3-8 yrs) and for children from 8 yrs. We visited when there were Circus and My family themes but fromMarch 1st. i think they will change the theme (please check on official page) We bought family tickets (14,50 €) for Circus, and spend 2 hours in there. When you enter the museum there is an area where you leave your shoes and jacket, and you enter museum in socks. Kids loved the great circus tent where you could dress in clothes and try circus skills like knife throwing (knives made from fleece),wheightlifting (made from styrofoam)etc. Through the museum there is also plenty of free DIY material where you could make entry tickets, crowns etc. There is a refreshment area with coffee and soft drinks machine and a huge slide if you don't feel like doing stairs to the soft drinks machine.

excellent quiet smart fun for children between 1 and 40 years old
it was all in german but it was no problem whatsoever - it was so cleverly built and arranged that you need not worry about language barrier. we went there for 1,5 hours with kids 1, 5 and 8 years old and we all enjoyed it. I can' really describe the museum again, this is very modestly done at the museum web site. But when we had to leave, we regretted the fact that we did not have more time to spend there. our 8 year old daughter enjoyed the outside area best of all, other kids I believe enjoyed it all in equal manner (there are three sections in the museum - smaller kids, older kids and outer area - we bought combi-tickets to all of them and we have been to all of them).

    Lovely for a rainy day
Our child (5yo) participated in the painting exhibition where she was able to paint all over the room with the painting accessories of her choosing, and also saw the interactive exhibition on money where she also had a lot of fun, even though it’s recommended for children from 6 years up. The only issue with the place (and something you should know in advance - we didn’t) is that they don’t let people enter with shoes which, in itself, is a good thing but when it’s 12 degrees out, the floor inside gets really cold really quickly, so take slippers if you think you could have a problem with that!
