Great stroll to obtain some knowledge of Swedish history
Good place to obtain a basic knowledge of the Swedish monarchy and some of the Swedish history. Not too lengthy walk through the rooms, full of amazing displays, decor and architecture. Included in the price was Royal Apartments, the Treasury, the Tre Kronor Museum and Museum of Antiquities. Absolutely worth the price. Despite the number of museums visited my teens did not get bored and we enjoyed the place.

    Big and a bit dull
The building itself, as befits a palace, is impressive, with commanding views but the atmosphere inside is underwhelming. Yes, it's big but it's also pricey, dull and a bit grudging, as if you're being tolerated for your entrance fee rather than welcomed. Ceremonial garters abound, explanations that give context or social history are thinner on the ground. The wonderful Vasa museum and the Nordiska are far more engaging and, if you'd like free entrance, try the Natural History and the (surprisingly gruesome) Army museums, both of which make an effort educate and entertain visitors.
