Very relaxing place for couples and families

My husband and I decided to come to Barra de Ibiraquera for our last vacation before the baby's arrival. It was definitely a great decision. The place is beautiful. the lbiraquera Lake (lagoa de ibiraquera) is beautiful. Clean and calm water. Locals are very friendly and food is good. For those who expect to see a great snacks and drinks tends vending tends, though, dont get frustrated. There are not so many options. We took fruits and water with us and had a great time at the Lagoa as well as at the beach.

    Pristine lake that merges with ocean
    This is a beautiful clear water lake, with a very nice beach where it merges into the ocean. It is actually divided into 3 sub-lakes (upper, middle and lower). The lower one connects to the ocean at some narrows surrounded by a great hybrid lake/ocean beach (the "Barra de Ibiraquera", the part this review focuses on). Through the narrows the lake gives water to/receives water from the ocean, depending on the tides so the narrows can have a current. If you come by car you can access the hybrid beach from either the Praia da Rosa or the Imbituba side, though there is more infrastructure (restaurants etc) on the Imbituba side. You can even walk across the narrows with some care. There are shacks that rent watersport equipment, the most popular seems to be the stand up surf board with an oar. The place is worth a morning and/or afternoon expedition if you'd like to try a new beach, even more so if you have kids who may enjoy a break from bathing in the ocean roughness.

    Wonderful view
    Ibiraquera Lake is a beautiful place to enjoy any kind of aquatic sports. You can choose between the lake and the sea, so you can swim or surf or go kayaking, windsurfing or even practise kite surfing.
