    Not Willy Wonka's, but close!
Don't miss the chance to visit this chocolate factory. The price is extremely low (something like $6.50), and you can see the chocolate making process in detail. You are often within a foot of the machines that assemble the chocolates (i.e. cut the fillings, add wafer to the outside, drip chocolate over the fillings, etc.). They tell you all about the fabrication process and you can see the extremely fast chocolate wrapping machines and boxing machines. The tubes carrying solid and liquid ingredients are also pointed out and explained. Heating and cooling processes are related, etc.! It's all very interesting...and to some perhaps the most fun part is you can eat as much chocolate as you can hold while in the factory! :D There are about 3 stops for chocolate eating and you can taste the chocolates you've seen made. The record for most chocolates eaten on the tour is something like 73...held by an American gentleman...Kids, don't try this at home! :o After the tour don't forget to go across the street and see the free museum. As well as being interesting, they will probably give you a small bag of chocolates and mints to take home. Oh, if you need an English guide you should call and say so in advance. Actually, you have to call in advance to reserve a spot, sometimes they are booked full weeks in advance. The telephone number is on the Garoto website.

    Que divertido! Que gostoso!
Sempre quis conhecer a fábrica! — What an amaaaaaazing tour! It was in my childhood fantasies to visit our little version of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, but just after growing up I got to go there. I had so much fun with my family! Yes! All adults! We laughed the whole time, had lots of fun, almost died over the delicious smell everywhere and ate bombons like crazy people in the end! Fantastic! Can’t wait to go there again!
