Less than an hour by bus (or 30min by car) away from Maceió, Francês Beach is a haven of peacefulness along the week, what obviously changes drastically on weekends and in the high season! The coral reefs prevent the harsh waves to hit the shore at places, making some stretches perfect for families with children, while surfers enjoy the other bits. Nice guesthouses and plenty of restaurants provide the infra-structure needed, it's a wonderful place for those in need of recharging the batteries for a few days.

    great day trip!
    Water is gorgeous. Restaurants are right on the beach with plenty of carts with drinks, corn, etc. Go just off the beach to get less expensive food. I don't know that I would stay here for a vacation - especially with Maceio Proper down the road ..but it is a fun day trip!

    Crowded and no standards
    Walk away from the many bars and plastic chairs and tables, where you smell fried fish and listen to bad music. A 5-minute walk to your right reserves a very nice quiet and calm beach, where you can rest and enjoy the Atlantic. No worries at all. A private paradise in April.
