    Loved it.
Visited a week before the English half term dates so expected the park to be rather quiet, it was certainly not at capacity but still busy, I feel the park dealt with this rather well, ride times were not excessive and as always the quality of the rides are fantastic, special credits to the theming on Wicker Man and The Smiler, these are world class rides and I am proud to have them in the country. Our encounter with Guest Services was very good, the lady was polite and knew what she was talking about. Theme parks in the UK are usually expensive when it comes to admission and food / drink, Alton Towers is no exception but they do offer a Merlin discount if you have an Annual Pass, ride operations were also very good except for them deciding to add a train to Nemesis about an hour before ride close, which added about 20 minutes to the queue, personally I wouldn't have taken one off in the first place. The park itself is spread over a large area and if the skyride isn't working you will need to do some serious walking to cover it all! - Something to think about with younger children, other than that we loved our visit to Scarefest 2022.

    Avoid summer hols!
We visited the park for 2 full days, and stayed nearby as hotels onsite were fully booked. The biggest negative for us was being on smiler when it broke down, we were on the vertical incline and left in the air for around 20 minutes, there was the general announcements of “smiler experiencing a technical fault” to inform the queue line, but absolutely zero communication to us in the air about what was going on. Everyone is different, but for us this was a really scary experience, especially with the history of smiler in the back of our minds. When we eventually came down, all we were offered was a complimentary hot drink! We gave our emails but have not been contacted at all yet. This not only took up a lot of our day, but left us with really sore shoulders where our weight had been pushed onto them for that time and in all honesty pretty scared to go on any more big rides. Another downfall was the unreal queue times, we got on about 6 rides per day, understandably it was busy but it was just crazy!! We managed to get in the rollercoaster restaurant without a booking by just lining up, I would defo recommend going here for the experience and the food is really nice, and not much more expensive than the takeaway stands around the park.
