Unique experience

We are Aluxes Ecoparque a non-profit non-governmental civil association based in Palenque Chiapas. Due to all the destruction of the ecosystems in the last couple of years Aluxes was created. The mission: ecosystemic rescue. To start more than 10, 000 trees were planted on the property along with other plants to complement and balance the new ecosystem that was being created, along with that process the natural wetlands on the property were rehabilitated and the lagoon system was reintroduced. This work gave way to a series of microclimates that allowed species of local flora and fauna to reemerge. Today there is an incredible amount of wildlife living naturally there, making the park a beautiful place full of life and color. We have a variety of projects to help our mission along, we are the first wildlife rescue center in the state, working alongside local authorities we help rescue and rehabilitate animals that have been victims of cruelty and trafficking.

    Lovely chilled afternoon
We got a collectivo from near the ADO bus station to the Aluxes Palenque. The collectivo drops you off on the main road and it's a short walk to the park. Entrance fee was 150 pesos and my girlfriend paid around 100 pesos to feed a manatee, which she really enjoyed. It was very hot and there were loads of mosquitos, but it was a very nice chilled way to spend an afternoon. The animals looked fairly well looked after and we really enjoyed it. There were exotic birds in the restaurant you could have pictures with, and it was easy to get good pictures of most of the animals.

First thing in the morning is your best bet
We arrived at 9:00am on the advise of a tour guide friend. The animals are more active, we had the place to ourselves and the caretakers are feeding the animals then. It was interesting to see some animals not penned in. For example, a deer decided to hop into another part of the park. We also enjoyed the labelling of some plants and trees, explaining when they flower, fruit, what depends on them for survival, what level of extinction are they. The cost was 150 pesos per adult. You will be asked to take a photo of the park map as they don't hand them out. .
