Erkel Ferenc Emlekhaz, Southern Great Plain, Hungary
4.5 (26 reviews) Spent Ranking #5 in Gyula Speciality Museums
Famous place in a small town
The building has got 2 parts, the renewed house and the modern museum. Everything is well positioned. They have audio guide in English too. As a local citizen I am very proud of it.

A fundamental national shrine for all Hungarians.
This is a small teacher's house with adjoining school room where the composer of Hungary's national anthem and other patriotic works was born and raised. It is very well restored and has a great small exhibit. It is very visitor friendly and aimed mainly and school children.

Interesting
It is a good way to find out how Erkel Ferenc lived and if you are Hungarian born, you know he wrote the National Hymn. This little museum is situated in a small city of Gyula. This city has the best Hungarian food, best STRAND (which means a collection of pools, hot and cold, for the young and old), a beautiful fortress, a castle newly renovated, lots of good cafes.
