Quite unique wind barrier
Often I asked myself the question: what are these huge concrete slabs along the Caland canal doing here? After some research and asking locals I got the answer: they serve as a wind shield and make it possible for large ships such as cruise boats and cargo vessels to pass through the canal. At this point the canal is rather narrow and very much exposed to strong (western) winds. The 'wall' effectively blocks 75% of the wind. Never seen a construction like this ever before.
