Amazing!
What an amazing building/service! I am impressed every time I visit - often with my grandson (resident of Schiedam) in tow, but still overawed with the architecture and transformation of the past building to a functioning local library. You need to visit, just to feel what it's like to have a living (planted) library. Visit for an idea of what libraries can be - intimate, colourful, accessible and connected. Free wifi for travellers; coffee and more for visitors; great facility for locals.

Lovely Lunch and beautiful old building to huse a library
We had a lovly lunch at the Bibliotheek. Fine food for reasonable prices. Beautiful surroundings. There was a readingtable and acces to all kind of newspapers and magazines.

Monumental building, good services
Built in 1792 restored after a fire in 1840 and more recently in the 1950s and 2010s. A monumental neoclassical style building with a history of trade in grain (main substance for production of gin). Since 2015 the building is being used as a public library with free WiFi, places to work (computer use 0,01 per minute), even open on Sundays (till 5PM).
