Perissa Black Sand Beach, South Aegean, Greece

4.5 (5.854 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Cyclades Beaches

Favourite santorini beach! It has everything!

This idyllic beach in Santorini is famous for its black sand, the result of the volcanic activity that created the island. Calm conditions and crystal-clear waters teeming with fish make for excellent snorkeling and swimming. Enjoy a relaxing day of bathing in the Mediterranean sun and stay until the evening to catch the spectacular sunset over the Aegean sea, framed by the Mesa Vouno mountain. The beach is easily accessible from Fira, the capital of the Greek island. Summer is the busiest season—rather than rushing around, book a seaside hotel in Perissa town to enjoy this spot of paradise to the fullest. – Tripadvisor

    Great day at the beach!
Lovely, quiet beach with plenty of room to swim or sunbathe. As everyone has said, there are a lot of small restaurants and bars down by the beach. We took the bus from Fira (leaves every 20 minutes or so) which cost us 2,20 per person. Ride was about 30 minutes and they dropped us off right near the beach. We paid 10,00 for two chairs and an umbrella. Overall it was a great day!

    Unique black sand beach
Beautiful, calm water, gorgeous black sand beach but wear shoes. You absolutely can not walk on it barefoot - so hot! We went to Barkia beach restaurant and were able to get 4 free beach chairs with umbrella. If you sit on the front row, you pay 60 per set. Other sites on the beach had really nice umbrella set ups as well but require reservations. Forty One was recommended to us but we did not have a reservation and there were none beach chairs open.
