Don't miss the gem of a museum
Don't miss this gem of a museum, particularly if you visit Akrotiri as all of the artefacts and frescos from Akrotiri have are on display here. They were a bit overwhelmed with crowd control due to covid restrictions so I would recommend timing your visit for either first thing in the morning or late afternoon. We ended up waiting about 45 mins. The exhibits were very well-done and displayed with excellent didactics. The frescos are extraordinary. Don't miss the lower level display (it would be easy to do, as it is not well-marked) to really get a sense of how the houses in Akrotiri were laid out.

    Small but special
We had a wonderful visit. The museum is small but very interesting, full of details and plenty of sculptures, vases and paintings to keep you walking around for an hour. It is well structured in a one-way system as to not get too crowded. I felt I learned a lot and developed an appreciation for the items on display. A definite must-see. We visited toward the end of the day and it was nice and quiet so can recommend this.
