Once seen never forgotten
This city is huge, the biggest walled city in Europe. We walked around this city many times, not just in the tourist area but also in the residential area and we got lost several times because of its size. It was good to see different parts of the city that many people don't bother to look around. You can find old ruins as you walk around the narrow alleys and streets as well as a few shops, restaurants and hotels that are off the beaten track. In the tourist part of the city is a main square with loads of shops and stalls selling just about anything and everything. Most of the designer clothes are fake and don't pay the asking price, haggle the price down for some great bargains. There are plenty of restaurants touting for your custom, so be prepared to be pestered as you walk past. The food and drink prices are good value though, so it's worth sitting at a table and watching the world go by whilst enjoying an ice cold beer. A word of caution though make sure you order a pint not a large beer or you get a 1 or 2 litre glass boot of beer at silly prices. It's worth going as there is so much to see and enjoy and because it's so big a few visits will be needed.

What a lovely place
A jewel of a place. The old town walls and moats are really well preserved. The narrow streets are full of tavernas and shops. Plenty of places to find shade and a cooling drink. Watch the prices in the square by the gate close to the port - you may regret sitting at a cafe there unless you have loads of money. Desperation over the loss of trade due to Covid seems to have led to shops and bars posting staff outside to drag in any potential customer who shows even the slightest interest. A little like the Spanish Costas in the 70s, and a practise that I thought had stopped. Don't let that stop you enjoying the town and all it has to offer.
