Amoudi Bay, South Aegean, Greece

4.5 (3.960 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in South Aegean Bodies of Water

A must see for anyone visiting Oia.

It’s a steep descent to this idyllic port just below Oia in Santorini. Wear good shoes as the terrain is rocky and steep, and you’ll have to go down over 200 steps to get there. Seafood restaurants grilling octopus await you at the bottom, and a trail over rocky terrain will take you to a spot where you can swim in crystal-clear waters and watch cliff jumpers. Amoudi Bay is a great place to unwind, especially at sunset. If you want to skip the walk back up, opt for a taxi back to Oia or splurge for a water taxi. – Tripadvisor

It's a long hike down or up, but it's worth it.
It took a long hike down hundreds of stair steps from Oia. We had lunch at a pricey restaurant on the beach, then took a hike along the seashore to a place where people were swimming and diving. The water was so clear. It's a grand view to look up the cliff where Oia is. Instead of taking a donkey ride up, we called a cab back to Oia.

Lovely, good foot, you can go there with BUS... or by farry if you are on Thirassia island.
We got to Oia from the island of Therassia, there are three ferries every day connecting Thirassia Principal port to Oia. The village is beautiful, there is a lot of fish restaurants along the bay and up in the city too. The stairs to go up is quite long but not impossible (10 minutes walk) or you can take a donkey (if you can, don't), but it's worth it for the view. If your stay is in Santorini you can go to Oia by bus, there is one often (you can check the timing on the photo posted on google in the review of "Fira bus station". If I can suggest a trip: Arrive in Santorini and take 4/5 days to visit the island and the different beaches (buses are chaotic, but frequent and manageable), then go to the old port of Thira and take a 6h boat trip (30 euros) that make you visit the vulcan and bath in the hot volcanic springs in the small island between Santorini and Thirassia, at the end the tour normally stops on Thirassia island a couple of hours before going back to santorini island... I suggest you to not go back but take a room and stay a couple of night there (it's a very rural and beautiful small island, you can go hiking and both the beaches are beautiful and not crowded, the local restaurant are quite good. Then you can take the farry Thirassia-Oia to go there (cost 1€), and then you already are on the main island so you can get to the airport and go back home or whenever you like.
