Beautiful palace with museum.

We visited here this morning to see the 1850 Gabrielli Palace as well as the museum. After paying 6 Euros for 2 seniors and using the clean restroom, we began our 3 floor self tour. The most interesting ground floor room exhibited Stone-Bronze-Roman age (4,0000 BC- 300 AD artifacts below glass while the other had sea/ship pictures. The palace’s main floor was shown in period with furniture, wall & ceiling designs, glass cased sailing ships and a beautiful rotunda salon. The 3rd floor was devoted to wartime Slovenian sailors, military hardware and ship equipment. This nice palace has an elevator to the side of its intriguing ground to attic stairway.

    Interesting find
    We found the museum fascinating. The receptionist was extremely helpful with how to navigate around the museum. The iPad added a lot of historical context to the visit. Everything is clearly marked and well displayed.

    Impressive historical maritime collections
    There is more to this museum than you think when you first walk in. There are three floors of exhibits showcasing the rich, maritime heritage of Slovenia. From archeological gems from the Adriatic Sea and Roman times to modern relics from World War II as well as incredible ship models - this was a thoroughly educational and enjoyable museum.
