    Incredibly impressive but equally peaceful
I visit Lund at least once a year to visit family and will always visit Lund Cathedral, it is incredibly impressive but equally peaceful. I have always been able to go in, walk around and sit and relax. But this has been more about luck than planning as there are ceremonies that result in reduced access. You can have a walk around and explore, get in the crypt and find the giant (there is a story behind it) or you can just light a candle and find a quiet place. The calendar clock is incredible and you can find yourself looking at it longer than you would expect. It is bang in the middle of the city and surrounded by food outlets, coffee shops and things to explore.

    Astronomical Clock was a Highlight
When we arrived on Sunday morning, we were able to quickly run through the cathedral prior to 11am services. (Considered staying for this, but did not.) The info center was closed. But we realized after we left that there was an astronomical clock in the Cathedral (we hadn't noticed) so we went back over after the service. It turned out (by luck, I'm not sure how we would have found this) that there was a tour of the Cathedral in English starting at 12:30pm. So the four of us had basically a private tour, which include a brief film in English, a few minutes in the Cathedral; then a viewing of the Astronomical Clock "performing" at 1pm (our guide was also the guide for this activity, and she spoke in both English and Swedish to a crowd of maybe 50 gathered to watch the clock). After the Clock performed at 1pm, we continued our tour for another 20 minutes, down into the Crypt. It was absolutely wonderful! NOTE: I think the clock usually goes off at noon, it was only on Sunday that it was at 1pm.
