Ales Stenar, Skane County, Sweden

Beautiful view

You can go right up and touch the stones. There went many people there, but that might be due to the time of year and the cold, so that meant I was able to get some pics without anyone else in them. Just a cool place with an amazing view.

    Wow! Amazing!
I just happened to read about Ales Stenar a few days before departing on a trip from Vestfold, Norway to Poland via ferry from Ystad, Sweden. Ales Stenar is about 15 kms east of Ystad, close to a cozy little fishing village called Löderup. It is a brisk uphill walk from Löderup to the top of a large open meadow where the stones are situated. When you reach a certain point, you see the outline of the stones against the sky. Very majestic. The vast meadow reaches southwards to high cliffs that tumble down to the Baltic Sea. Several folks showed up shortly before sundown to get the ultimate Ales Stenar experience. It is a powerful place and a must see if you are in the area.

    Another piece of history
Nice and relatively easy walk up to the stones. If you are fit you can climb down to the beach and experience the coastline from another perspective than that from the top. Lots of people climbing the stones (even though forbidden) and show very little respect for this historical site.
