Must see primer for temples and history
December 2022 - A must see if you want a primer for Angkor Wat/Khmer history. USD 12 admission for foreign visitors plus 5USD the audio guide. Well worth it! We have been on several tours of Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples over the years and it was difficult to grasp the all the information thrown at you by the guide. We had been to the museum in 2012 but were to frugal for the audio guide, there’s just too much reading! Anyway it all starts to make much better sense thanks to the museum. Room of a 1000 Buddhas is spectacular. Different exhibition halls cover early history, Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, aspara, etc. and the aircon is great. I highly suggest you visit here before venturing out into temples. Plan two hours + to cover all the halls. Friendly staff, snack bar, decent gift shop, and a $2 tuktuk from most of Siem Reap.

    Angkor Museum
A fantastic museum outlining the history of the Khmer dynasty, spanning several exhibits across a two storey building. Definetly spend an hour or 2 exploring this place if in Siem Reap. Relatively cheap admission cost as well, although there is an extra charge for the audio guide (I recommend this if you are heading there solo) .
